It's a New Year

Well, it's a new year, and I'm cautiously excited about 2012. For the first time ever, I am beginning the new year while being on a paid, week-long vacation from work (a Christmas gift from our CEO) and will continue it by going on a cruise to the Caribbean!! I can hardly wait! I am flying to San Antonio, Texas on Thursday to meet up with Chrissy and then hang out for a few days before we drive down to Galveston. At this time next week, I will be on a ship headed to some of the most beautiful parts of God's creation.

In reading some of the posts I made over the past two years, I realized that some things haven't changed. I still struggle with always feeling distant from God. I feel like it waxes and wanes but the closeness never lasts very long. Does anyone else struggle with this, or is it only me? I'm constantly encouraged that it doesn't take a lot of 'work', that God is always there, and that even if I feel that way, it doesn't necessarily indicate that I really *am* far from Him just because I feel like it. But it seems like many others have a much easier time engaging in close communion with Him than I do. Anyone have any insight/ideas?

Hope everyone has a fantastic beginning to 2012.
